You Never Know

As Father’s day approaches, I want to share a life lesson my dad made sure that I understood growing up. Though he mentioned it more than a few times, I am only just beginning to understand the magnitude of it. That lesson was this: More important than what grades you make, what school you attend, or what job you have are the interactions and connections you make with people every day of your life. Relationships are the most important aspect of life. Your relationship with your family, friends, and coworkers all play a huge roll in how you live your life. The more people you know and interact with will only benefit you. You have one chance to make a good impression on someone, so do it right. And lastly, you never know what tomorrow is going to bring. Treat everyone with respect and as if it may be the last time you ever see that person. We may only get one shot at an impression and we may not get another opportunity to interact with friends and the ones we love. Make that impression or interaction the best you can possibly make it. Never in his wildest dreams did my father think his connection and relationship with Steve would lead him to play Augusta with his father and the Jack Nicklaus himself. You never know.
